That isn't really a complete question.

"Will a JL w7 sound as good on amp X as it does on a JL 1000/1?"  is a complete question.

And I think the answer is - probably not.  The JL1000/1 is among the most capable sub amplifiers on the market - period.  So unless your JLw7 is being mated to a Zapco, McIntosh, or maybe higher quality stuff from Eclipse or the like - then I seriously doubt it will compare with what you could do with the JL1000/1.

Eitherway, for an amplifier to put out power that comes near what the JL1000/1 does - you'll have to spend AT LEAST ~$400 - 600 anyway.\

What amplifier do you want to hook your w7 to? What size w7 is it?

I love the fact that the JL does rated power between just a wide load range.

What?  I don't think "Clifornis" is a brand.  Try again.

You're powering a 13W7 with a '200 watt' Califonia Profile amp, more like 75-100watts RMS?! It probably barely moves!

Power is power. Now, how clean the power is is a different story. With that said, you're going to need somewhere in between 500-1000watts of REAL RMS power to get full output from that sub.

JL is good quality but IMO overpriced. You can get just as clean power cheaper ways. Some brands I would look into are kicker zx1000.1 or a Sundown SAE-1000D both do rated power and very clean power as well

I wouldn't use the sundown with any of the W7 subs. 3 ohms on that amp is not worth it nore enough power. .75 ohms would void the warranty.

The kicker 1000.1 not sure what it does at 3 ohms but wouldn't be worth it. Not sure if it can handle .75 ohms daily

the w7 is 3ohms? and kicker overrates there amps i got a birth shirt on my zx1000 that came out to 1374 at2ohms so im pretty sure it would be pretty powerful at 3ohms

my mad...I was thinking the Kickers put out full power at 1 ohm

What is the model # of the amp? -Or, more specifically; what size fuse(s) are in the amp, and what class is it?

Also, the enclosure plays a bigger role than brute power. What enclosure do you have it in?

I would think the amp puts out close to 800-900watts, not too bad. California Profile amps aren't of the highest (or even higher) quality, but they are still great for the money -from what i've seen.

The AP2000 is a pretty powerful amp - strictly power-wise it would do a decent job on the 13w7.

The problem is the sub is a dual 1.5 so at most you can only get a 3 ohm load on the amp.  When bridged the Profile can safely drive a minimum of 4 ohms.  Being a budget amp it probably wouldn't end well if you try to drive 3 ohms with it.

If you don't get the JL amp, or something similar that will give you around 1000w at 3 ohms you're looking for a mono amp that does 1200-1500w at 2 ohms.
