I am installing 2 Rockford 500bd amps in my car and I was wondering how to do this.....

The two amps are mono, and they each will be driving seperate sub (Kicker S10L7). From my Sony M600 HU I only have the one sub preout. On the amps there are two things i dont understand.

1. If the 2 amps are working independantly with the exception of the mono signal from the HU then do I need the bd Sync cable the destructions call for?
2. when wireing them then i just use the signal pass-thru right?

Pardon my questions if they are obivous. i just looked on the RF website and couldnt really determine a straight answer....they have 2 amps powering 1 sub but not 2 amps powering 2 independant subs with one signal.

Maybe my thinking is backwards and that is why i am asking these questions

You are on the right track. Just used the pass-thur signal for the other amp. I know for JL amps you can used up to three amp before you get some signal loss. That’s when you would need a line driver.

You can also use y-adapters on the RCA's before they get to the amps (changes 2 RCA's into 4). It's cheaper, both amps still run independantly, and you shouldn't notice any signal loss. You would install both amps as if they were the only amps in the system, and run 1 sub per amp.

But if you're really serious... You can use straight RCA's for the pass through AND a bdSYNC cable (Rockford part number bdSYNC). The bdSYNC cable is required when combining 2 bd amps via the pass through.

You could also try using a Rockford Punch Link (Rockford part number RFC4210). I believe it's used to distribute power/ground/remote/signal input to 2 Rockford amps like the 500bd, and helps keep the installation clean. I'm trying to find more info on them.

I'm not sure what the costs are, but I'll be getting into this myself when I get my second 500bd and new subs (currently two RFP3412 HE's).

BE SURE TO SWITCH THE PHASE OF 1 AMP IF YOU JOIN THEM WITH THE PASS THROUGH AND bdSYNC CABLE!
If you are going to tie 2 bd amps together, 1 needs to be at 0 degrees and the other at 180 degrees for the proper phase (see page 10 of the manual bd Manual)
