I have everything for my stereo system wired except for the "remote turn on" for the amp. I found the blue wire (with the white stripe) exiting the head unit, but i am not sure how i should connect the wire that will lead to the amp. Also, i'm not sure which type of wire i should use.

For ease of workability a 20 ft roll of (18 AWG primary wire) available at any auto parts store or Radio Shack, will do fine.  If you have a piece of flexible stranded wire laying around, and you have no problem with running that to the amp, use it.  The size of the wire  is not that critical.  As far as connecting the wire to the remote wire of the radio, there are several ways you can do this.  You could solder the wires together and cover the connection with some (Heat Shrink Tubing) Also available at Auto Parts Store, Radio Shack or Harbor Freight.  You could also use a (Butt Connector) Also available ......   If you go this route and are planning to do more things of this nature, I would reccomend buying a Good pair of Electrical Crimping Pliers, Better Luck finding these at Home Depot or Lowe's.  Gonna cost you about 20 Dollars.  Or you could use the old stand by, a wire nut to insulate the connection that you just twist together.
