Hello everyone I have this problem, I got 4 12inch sony xplode subs single 4 ohm each. I have a hifonics brutus amp that 1200 watts. When I play the system, if I'm playing a song like "bass I love you" the subs cut out, and I have to back the volume down, and then they kick back in. But I can't seem to get a constant high volume without the amp going into protect mode, especially when the song gets deep. Please tell me what I could possiblly have wrong. thank you

What channel is the amp? You could have the amp wired for too low of an impedence. If you have 2 subs wired in parellel to each channel ( 2 channel amp that is) youll get a 2 ohm stereo lod. If your amp is not 2 ohm stereo stable, it will go into protect. But if you run that same setup but in series, youll have a 4 ohm load.

how do you have the subs wired? I'd pull out a test meter and check to make sure each coil is actually reading 4 ohm. ------------- ...don't crush the weasel...

you shouldnt need to use a meter to check how you have it wired. I mean each sub should be at 4 ohms. If one is under, then obviously that sub is going south. I would first check how you have the 4 subs wired to the amp. You might have it wired for too low of a load then what your amp can handle. If after you check that you find that everything is wired correctly, then I would take a DMM and test to make sure all are running at 4 ohms and not lower. Tubbs04 is correct, but I would first check the wiring itself before using the meter.

The hifonics brutus amp that is 1200 watts that i looked at says it will play at 1ohm for 1200watts,So do you have all the subs hooked up where you tie all the positives together and all the negatives together to make 1 ohm.If so it could be you do not have enough power going to the amps ,and when it start hittings and if the voltage drops to low ,it would cause it to cut out.

The gain may also be cranked up too high. The amp may not have a proper ground. ------------- 2013 Kia Rio -90a alternator
