Ok, so heres there deal, I finally got my system fully set up to the point where I was able to crank it to it's potential, and well, now im getting light dimming, grrr. I already have a 280 amp alternator, of course I did the big 3 with all 0 awg wire, the last thing I ever wanted to purchase is a capacitor and now it looks like it might have to be the final step to my install to make it solid. Any idea what the difference is between those hybrid caps and regular caps? Im trying to save as much space under my rear seats as possible, I have the amps stacked and the crossovers for my speakers all under 1 seat, id like something small like those hybrid caps to fit under there too, heck id be willing to even hide it, last thing I want people seeing is a band aid in my professional install :(

Your dimming off a single PDX amp?!?!?!??!?!?!?

Somthing dont sound right.

I shouldnt have to suggest this, you paroabbyl have done it. BUT....

Have you taken resistance measurments from the ground wire on the amp to the ground terminal on the batt?

I have had a few severe grounding issues with the newer GM's.   I had to add additional grounds along with a big 3 to get things in spec.

I'm agreeing with Jeff, here... I have those same amps, AND another 4.150, and I only have a 170A alternator... No dimming... Something isn't right somewhere...

Anyways, here's a thread explaining the difference between the two technologies... I'll let you make the decision as to which one you want to use.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Maybe it's a Great White North thang.  Ravendarat uses one.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

Humm, good point, i'll do a ground resistance check tomorrow. I actually was thinking that it could be a ground issue. If I don't need a cap that would be excellent!

My ground is 0.4 ohm's, that sounds pretty low to me! Im assuming the voltage regulator in my Iraggi Alternator is of low quality and does not respond that fast.

Contact Dom, he might have a diffrent pulley he could provide that would make the Alt preform diffrently at lower RPM's   it sounds like this may be where you are having your issues?   I know some of his big alts are factory spec at idle and large output at 1800-2000 Engine RPM

Will do, but honestly I don't think I can get a smaller pulley, looks like he custom machined this one, theres not much material too it, it's so small already.
