Okay i have a setup with

2x Digital Deisgn 1508 subs at 400rms/1500peak SVC 4ohms
with a custom box enclosure at 1.75cubic feet by 35HZ

Running on a
JBL GTO7001 Amp
Pushing at 2ohm makin up to 700rms

Signal from a
JVC AVX800
Preout amp at 5v

700rms /2 = should be roughly 350 rms underated power coming from my JBL

PROBLEM!:
In order to get get a decent amount of bass. I had to crank my JBL at 75% percent gain. Running 80hz LPF. WHY? .. it should not even be that high to even make the 8's hit. and These DD are capable are monsterous bass.. To get good bass not very good bass i had to crank it to max.. im scared of clipping my new amp. Please Help =(

SOLUTION?: MAYBE!?!
Okay I guess i have no really solution left now lol. I regrounded my ground to the chasis of the car. Made sure my subs were not out of phase. blah what else could be wrong?

lol i just tested my friend zx750.1 kicker today and it beated at half gain nicely. really nice haha

Cant believe it my JBl really. do yah think it is?

Did you try adjusting the BTO setting. The manual recommends 10hz below the tuning freq. If the BTO is not correctly set with the X-over freq. output will suffer. That amp really isn't underated. . .

At "75% gain" your amp is probably clipping. This will hurt the speakers before it hurts the amp, by the way. Set your gain properly by matching it to the output from the head unit. If your speakers are in phase and your subsonic is not set too high (as mentioned above) then either (a) you are getting the most you can get and the problem is the geometry of the vehicle. Try moving the enclosure into different locations. or (b) your enclosure is improperly constructed and is either not designed correctly for those speakers or is flexing and giving away too much of the output. You can also try raising the LP filter to around 100Hz and see if that works better in your vehicle.

Okay guys. I just recently bought 2 Digital Design 1508 subs. They rated at 400rms/1500peak.
The subs is going to be powered by a Kicker zx750.1

And was wondering what kind of box i should tuned it at? Im looking for around 70%SPL and 30%SQ. Bascially i still want my PUNCHY in ur chest bass. What kind of tuning would yah guys reconmand?

Right now i have a temp box for it. tuned at 35hz and it get punchy but not as punchy or loud. Box is at 1.75 cubic feet and 35hz powered by a RF P5002.

My next box i'm thinking tuning at 45HZ.? My question is. Will i lose my subs accuaracy? and Will i get a gained of Punchy bass? and also at 45HZ will i get the boomy sound ? like the system seem like it playing one note at all time.?

Please at much response i can get, ill be building it on friday or so.

I can't find the subs your using. Link to the product page. What kind of car are you installing this in? Body style?

Anyway - you won't really lose accuracy per se - you'll just get a REAL peaky response. I'm a basshed and I don't like boxes tuned this high - the only thing that will be particularly loud will be a tone CD @ the tuning frequency - you might find some electronica tracks here and there that play well, but the vast majority of music will sound like garbage.

"Punchy" means different things to different people - could you expand on your goals here a bit?
