Hey guys need some help on wiring up my sub and amp. I have an audiobahn aw1000q sub, specs are below:

Quite simply, the High Excursion series is Audiobahns most versatile subwoofer. The non-pressed, non-transfer paper cone and PHAT 2 foam surround combine to deliver quick, distortion-free bass response. The baskets are made from ultra-stiff chrome plated cast aluminum, and even the back plate is part of a gigantic machined and chromed Bolt-Tight motor structure. Designed for an awesome combination of sound quality and power handling, the High Excursion AW1000Q features 120 oz. double-stacked Strontium magnets, a vented and extended pole piece, and a 2.5 " ASV former with dual high-temp 4 ohm voice coils.

Note: If you are wiring this DVC sub for lower impedance, make sure that your amp is compatible. Most car amplifiers are stable down to 2 ohms in standard mode, or 4 ohms in bridged operation.

    * dual 4-ohm voice coils
    * non-pressed pulp cone
    * huge foam surround
    * frequency response 23-500 Hz
    * power range 50-600 watts RMS (300 watts per coil)
    * peak power handling 1,200 watts
    * sensitivity 91.1 dB
    * top-mount depth 5-1/4"
    * sealed box volume: 0.4-.95 cubic feet
    * ported box volume: 1.632 cubic feet

The amp I have is a memphis st500d amp, specs are below:

The subwoofer has 2 voice coils, connections on each side. The thing thats confusing me is that there are 4 wire terminals on each side for a total of 8. How do I wire this up with my amp for best performance without damaging either component?

Thanks guys,
Deep

Check for continuity between two negs (or positives) on one side.  If there is continuity you will know that the connections go to the same place.  The extra sets of terminals are likely supplied for wiring multiple subs or for supplying wire to the amp so that one terminal wouldn't have to have multiple wires attached.

Wiring is as described for a 2 ohm load in https://www.the12volt.com/caraudio/woofer_configurations.asp  Two jumper wires connect VC 1 directly to VC 2, with one wire connecting positives and another wire connecting negatives.  You can use the second set of terminals to supply connection to the amp, using a pos from one coil and a neg from the other coil.  (In most situations where one set of terminals is supplied per coil, wires are doubled up on two of the terminals as the illustration in the wiring diagram shows.)

It's interesting that the manual says to "see wiring diagrams under 'tech tips' ", but doesn't show it at all.  Another "oops" from good ol' Audiobahn.

thx for the quick reply. After browsing the audiobahn site for a while, I stumbled upon the tech tips article.

Anyways, I will hook it up as you described. Thanks for again for your help.
