Ok, I designed this box and I am wondering if it would actually work. I know it's possible to design boxes that don't actually work for real but look like they do in a program. I am using WINISD. BOX: vented, .8cu ft, tuned to 28HZ, 1 rectangle port 1in x 4.25in which comes out to 16 inches long, Box dimensions 20in wide x 15in high x 7in deep. Thanks and I'm new to this so if this box is ridiculous I apologize.

you need atleast 12 sq inches of port. that port is bound for high port noise.

I don't know much about ports, but WINISD says it has a port mach of .16 which is green. I had to to a lot of playing with the port to get it green.

Also I'm making the port external, if that makes any difference. What exactly do you mean by 12 square inches of port, in what way? do you mean cubic?

Well, I was just messing around with the box size and apparently the program messed up because now it's off the chart. I expected it should be, hence why I asked on here. I guess I will just have to keep working on it. Pioneer gives you the measurements but not the port frequency. Thanks!

Ok, I'm dumb... I switched it to cubic inches by accident. I'm pretty sure that driver would not fit in a 0.8 cubic inch box.

Download and use the alpha pro version of WinISD.  It's been available for about 4 years now.  You should be using the latest because bugs in the previous are fixed.  See my sticky subject for the link.

You're dealing with a compromise in acceptable port noise as you work out the port opening area (in square inches) and consequent port length.  WinISD ver. 0.50a7 deals only with numbers...not green area.  Decide whether you want to use meters or feet and set the chart for RMS rather than peak.  Less than 110 feet per second (10% Mach) is usually acceptable for most car audio systems, and note at what point of the freq range the peak occurs.  Very low freq peaking may be below the actual content of your source music so take that into consideration.  Look at the peak at 30 - 40 Hz.

Thank you, yes that seemed to be my problem, I was originally referred to the beta WINISD. LOL. All is well now.

^^oops on my post above:  I meant to say to set the chart so that it shows port noise at peak, not RMS.  The peak port noise will show up much higher than RMS but that shows the points where you might realistically get the chuffing port noise.  Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

what bugs are in the older versions??

I use WinISD Pro Alpha...lol not sure what version this is though but its kinda old.

Read the revision history in the help section, aznboi.  I don't know exactly what the bugs were, but I'm under the strong impression that the newest version is best to use.  I think the only reason it's still known as "alpha" is because the authors have other projects (maybe like paying jobs ;) and since it's been up and running well for so long they just let it go.

is that is lastest version??
