I think it puts about 800 or more at 1/2 ohm, when you hit 1/4 ohm you start hitting the limit where the amp gets really hot and the sound degrades.  I am running one of these to 2 15"dvc vega vmax's and just on stock alternator power plus a batcap 600 pp this amp makes its point at a half ohm and doesn't get hot, all with gain under 30% and bass knob at 20%.  Not bad.  When the hi-out alternator comes, its going to be truly impressive.

Opti's are nice amps. 800 watts isn't a huge load. Unless your voltage is low now, a HO alternator won't knock you to the floor. You might gain a 80 or so watts, and not notice the difference.

A 65 amp stock alternator doesn't help me much. This amp isn't getting anywhere near its full requirement.  I would think the HO alternator wouldn't be stressed like the stock one.

what I meant is that with the 65amp stock alternator, this amp may get maybe 20-30amps when it needs around 150-200 just for itself.  This amp pounded 4 15;s VERY hard years back when I first got it and had all the right upgrades then.  I'm starting over in a different truck.

Lets say you are running that amp at half ohm bridged. 800W @ 70% effcient will give you 128 amps max. What the alternator can't give out, gets pulled from the battery. What size HO alt did you buy?

I haven't got it yet, I am looking at the Nations Auto Electrics 260 amp, it has to be built in a small case as Nissan Frontier 4cyl's have little room.  The old one I had for my old S-10 was something like a 2-400 amp Stinger if I remember right.

So... ummmm... what's the issue? What's your question? It sounds like you are telling us about something you already have...

The point of this thread, please...?

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
