can anyone shed some light on this subject. how would the bass be affected if i added 2 sealed subs to an already 2 sub ported system? i have 2 alpine type x's 12s and i recently came up on some hifonix brutus 12's. has anyone tried adding sealed with ported? i was thinking it would be having best of both worlds or am i just wasting my time?

Wasting your time. All sealed or all ported. Different BRANDS might be bad enough, but alignments are much more critical.

The group delay and the response times of those two different types of enclosures are VERY different, and will probably be quite destructive of one another's waveforms. I just would't do it.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Its ghetto and not as effective as a good enclosure for two nice subs.
