best tricks for trunk rattle?

I applied three layers of Edead sound dampening material on my trunk lid and it worked a little but i'm still gettin a little rattle in my trunk from the bass. I hear some guys with their systems pretty loud and no rattle or very little rattle. Anyone knows any tricks or otyher applications to stop the rattleling?

It may not be just the trunk lid...check the side panels inside the trunk too. A lot of time if theres a plastic molding or something it can rattle. Check that too. Also it could be body stuff too. If the system hits right you could have a fender well rattling. Check everything

Yea I used expanding foam sealant inside of my fender area - this can be a challenege as too little won't help much, but too much can buckle the car body.  So be careful here.

3 layers on the trunk lid instead of one layer on the trunk lid and one layer on the rest of the trunk and quarter panels?

A little bit over a large area is ALOT better than a lot over a little bit of area.  3 layers of deadener is probably way past the point of diminishing returns.

Do your front outer-door skins as well - you won't believe how much this tightens up bass response over the whole car.

Most trunks are vented somewhere around the bumper from the inside. There are usually little plastic flaps and this is a particularly hard area to keep them from rattling and can also sound like it's coming from another area. Also, most cars trunk latches take a good amount of abuse and wear and have a lot of play meaning the trunk has some travel up and down when latched, which can in return rattle and it also hard to get rid of.

I'm still a "kid" and the majority my friends don't want to spend the money on dynamat, or similar sound deadening products, so I take old towels and stuff them in spots that seem like they're rattling and see if it stops. Makes it easy to find rattle areas without having to apply any type of deadener beforehand.

rear fillers on my caddy are a real pain. they are replacement fiberglass. this will sound very ghetto but it did work lol. spot glued with a silicon seal that can be removed with no issues. we took some vacum hose for cars, and spilt in half, and wedged it in trouble spots. this to act did work lol, and get rid og about 85% of some of the issues. but not all of it.. others had to be removed and shaved a little. so the they were not so tight on each other. like i said this was odd to do. and not my idea but it did work lol.

did you isolate the trunk outer skin from the inner part?? Most people deaden the trunk lid and still get rattling because these two piece are still vibrating against each other

anzboi I actually use a couple strips on the outer skin where it connects to the trunck lid. but i still got some rattle I'ma try resetting the gain to lower level and see what happens.

Do you have a spoiler, I know those can rattle and are pretty tough to stop. Check your whole car, my last car rattled like crazy, the two worst sounding places were my lisence plate and my front passenger door. So depending on your car, you may have some rattles in crazy places.

I filled my spoiler with expanding foam sealant and replaced the factory bolts with nylon threaded bolts.

I've never met a liscense plate that could stand up to two strips of closed-cell weatherstripping.

Those plastic flaps are a real pain.

I use foam weather stripping on every install I do...really works well...totally isolates the plate from the vehicle. Except I go a little overboard with it and do a line around the perimeter and two strips across the center lol.

yea i have a spoiler but i don't think is that. I'll try the foam weather stripping and see as well.
