A lot of companies have shallow 6.5" and 5.25" speakers.... Specifically how shallow do you need? Less than 3"? Less than 2"?

The more important question is how good of sound do want from these "shallow" speakers?

it's for an MG (front doors). I put some in with 1.5' spacers (after showing the customer what they would look like) and NOW he says he skins his knuckles rolling down the windows.... :/

So now I'm trying to find super shallows to drop in cuz he doesnt wanna pay for custom work.

Yay.

I think you should try to reason with this customer a little. Finding a speaker with 1" of depth is next to impossible...

It's either be more careful when he's rolling down the windows or no speakers. Of course talking him into some custom work would be your best option! posted_image

Agreed.

The slimmest 6.5's I've ever seen still come in at just under 2 inches.

IIRC, Lightning Audio had some RIDICULOUSLY slim 6.5's. Yellow cones, I think. I was able to put them EASILY in the doors (and the rear deck, and they didn't touch the springs) of my wife's Subaru Impreza, and there was space to spare. They sounded like crap to me, but all she wanted was some sounds in the front to replace the stockers, AND she was only running deck power, to boot...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
