I know that not using a T harness and relocating the deck or using a GMCO or similar is big problem on newer GMs. I also understand that the chimes don't work if these aren't used. What else can happen? Does the speedo stop working? or any other electrical maulfunctions? Jus curious.

The only thing you will lose is the door chime. With my car 02 cavalier, I used the relocation harness and relocated the radio to the trunk. But since I have my speakers wired to an amp, I still lost the door chime. Id like to have it back though.

I believe the GMRC01 from metra has an external chime which works well.  Also, if you're missing the chime, you may have an issue when it comes time for your yearly state vehicle safety inspection; as the chime is also the seatbelt warning chime.
