I am looking for a new head unit and was wondering what you guys preferred.
I would like to plug in my ipod which is why I like the IDA-X001 but I don't know if it is worth losing a CD player. I don't care about bluetooth at all. I was thinking about adding HD radio but I don't know if that is worth it either because I don't have experience with it. I would also like to have a good amount of control over the sound.
So far I am looking at:
1) Alpine IDA-X001
2) Alpine CDA-9886
3) Eclipse CD3200
4) Pioneer Premier DEH-P700BT
5) Alpine CDA-9887 ($$$)
I am leaning torward the CDA-9886 or the CD3200. I haven't been able to see the CD3200 so that is limiting me at the moment.
Please let me know what one you like the best and let me know if you have any other recommendations.
I vote for the Alpine 9886
Heres a thought though. Give up a CD player..... your not! If you own the disk, put it on yer pod.
I love that X001. You don't need the space to carry the cd's, they'll never skip
I've changed my vote...... X001

I can't help you with the model number of the popular choice, but one of these manufacturers are preferred 2.65 to 1 over the other 2 choices.
Read this
i would go with the x001 or the 9887 if you are willing to flip the bills for it... but you wouldnt be disappointed at all... i swear by alpine head units... love the quality and they arent all busy with unneeded things...

you can do it....
advanced MECP, lol does it really matter....
patience is a virtue
I guess I better change the Alpine iDA-X001 to the IDA-X100.
Thanks for the input so far.

Anyone else want to give their opinion.
I'm between the X001, or the 9887. I've been dealing with Alpine for years now, and have had very little problems with any of they're equipment. On the other hand, that eclipse unit you listed is a very nice head unit too. Eclipse is just a pain in the arse to deal with when it comes to codes, parts, and service.
