Hello, I am new to this site, but not new to car audio I have hada stereo in my car for atleast 2 years now, I cannot say I know everyhting, but I know quite a bit, but the question I have has completely puzzled me, To start off I have an Alpine Type X 12', My amp is the Alpine MRD-M1001, and my Deck is the IVA-W200 Alpine Dvd player, for now I have 3.5" Infinity speakers and Kenwood 6x9's in my 94 Cavalier Z24

Now I haven't had any porblems with this sub until now, I thought it might be my rca's but I pulled them from under my carpet and checked them over and they look good:errr: I kept getting wicked feedback and the sub would start to move like crazy so I would shut my car off and pull the RCA's, when I moved them and pulled them form under the carpet it stopped moving so much but all I get is a humming noise, what could this be from?

Forgot to mention that when I Touched the RCA's with my fingers the sub was getting some feedback also, not even being hooked up to the deck, I'm so lost lol any help would be greatly appreciated.

Do you get humming when the rca's are removed from the amp?
Now, if the humming went away when you removed the RCA's from the amp, try another set of RCA's, just run them over the carpet directly to the amp for testing.

If you still have humming the ground for the amp might have come loose, or become corroded, so take the fuse out of the power line under the hood, then undo the ground and sand away at the body metal so you see shiny metal, and re-connect it. Be sure to also clean your battery posts, and ground under the hood, now would be a good time to do the Big 3 if not already done.

It's the ground connection to the frame or a cold solder on the board from the terminal to the board. Seen this before tons of times.

you mean like inside my amp? I hope not, but I guess I could solder it together if need be, but I will defanitly take a second look at my ground tomorrow, the big 3 I plan doing when it warms up and I am going to use 4 Awg for everyhting, would that be to big or alright?
