I recently installed an Eclipse CD3200 head unit in my 2003 Volkswagen Jetta but it is not working. The problem is that the head unit will not turn on.
To explain furhter, I put in all the wiring a couple of days ago and then tested the deck. It worked great but I was not able to install it then. I needed to run more wires and I don't think I can take out my deck after I put it in.
The problem started when I tried to put the deck in again. I connected the wires to the deck and tried to turn it on. The deck did not turn on and nothing happened at all. I did not change any of the wiring or do anything I can think of that would cause this.
When troubleshooting I first checked to see if my fuse was blown which it wasn't. I then took my DMM and checked all the power wires. My constant wire was hot but my ignition wire didn't seem to have any power. I tried to connect the ignition wire to the constant to see if the ignition was the problem. That didn't do anything. So know I'm lost and can't figure out what is wrong.
What I suspect is the problem is that the voltage is too low. I know the deck works for sure. So does anybody think that is a possible reason or have any ideas. When I tested with my DMM what should I read for voltage? Also, does anybody know if you can take out an Eclipse head unit after it is installed easily? Thanks in advance!
Well I put the ignition wire on the constant. That should make the head unit turn on right?

You are correct, it should work at that point. When you used the meter to check voltage, you need to connect the black lead of the meter to the outer metal case of the radio. This will allow you to check the ground connection of the radio. You should read anywhere between 11.5 to 13.5 volts on both the red and yellow wire of the radio.
I am not familiar with the eclipse radios, but most other radios have a set of removal keys that come in the box with them. You need to examine the mounting sleeve and see what locks the radio into the sleeve. You ma be able to make a set of keys to remove the radio.

I was told that it was a security feature but they were not certain. I think it would be kind of dumb because how do they expect you to take out the deck? It didn't come with keys either.
I'm going to recheck the readings with my DMM and tell you what I find.
