Hi, just wondering what the consensus on this was..

I have some wire, about 14ga that is used for home electrical installations etc.. It has larger strands inside, but fewer than audio wire I have used. The wire I am considering, only has 7 strands inside, and is much more rigid than audio wire.

Can I use it for Alarm wiring?
Audio wiring?
External or internal LED lighting?

Thanks.

No. The ONLY benefit to high strand count wire is flexibility; allowing a longer, more reliable and trouble-free life in the vibration prone environment of the car.

YOu can, in theory, use solid wire, and it won't make any difference to the current carrying capacity of the wire - it will function identically.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

Unless your at a shop where the owner is just stupid and tells you that the power dose not flow right over the non multi strand wire, it will blow the amp and the sub. You have to buy this multi strand stuff from us.

When we had problems with 2 bad subs from a shop, that just had to be the reason why 2 went bad in less than a week. So his head installer came out and said yea the owner dose not know what he is talking about. So to make the owner happy he changed the wire out to there stuff at no charge. They also replaced the sub again too. It was just to faulty subs fist time I have ever had that happen.
