i am trying to connect my headunit to an amp. headunit only has low RCA output for the rear speakers. but high output, in bear wire fir front and rear.
i have a 150w x4 amp, with power levles set at 100w.all with heavy duty wire connecting the speakers to the amp.
when using the low RCA rear for to 8" 300w subs even at low volume they are still distorting.... the front speakers running off the high output into my amp, with the output set to around 80w are fine.... could it be the RCA leads i am using, should i get some heavy duty RCA leads and try that?????? and on the high outputs they distort even more....

this is my first sterio that i have installed by myself, and am only relitivly new to this stuff. if anyone could help that would be wonderfull

Is there a LP setting on your amp? Switch the setting on your amp to LP( meaning LOW PASS).

1) Check your grounds. Make sure they are connected directly to the frame of the car, and there is bare metal (no paint, plastic, corrosion, etc...)

2) Make sure your power wires to the amp are run down the opposite side of the car as the RCA cables/speaker wires. If you run them together you can get signal interference/distortion.

3) Try turning your gains down on the amp. If they are too high you can get distortion as well.

4) What ohms are your subs, and how do you have them wired (parallel or series)

What is the make/model of your headunit, amp, and subs? This can help with further troubleshooting.
