no music from speakers, and popping noise

A while back I did this huge upgrade in my car with Inifity Kappa Perfect speakers and now I am taking it all out and just going with a normal set up. By normal set up I mean no sub and just four average kenwood speakers.

After taking out the Subwoofer, 4 channel Amp, amp for the sub, all the wiring associated with that, and re wiring my CD player (which included taking the speaker wire from the 4 channel amp off and just connecting the normal leads)...I hooked up one of the normal kenwood speakers I bought with one of the old kappa perfects still in the drivers side. Everything worked great, except I got popping out of the driver side rear speaker. (no idea what causes that, but that isn't the main concern of this post)

The next day, I uninstalled the Kappa Perfect in the drivers side and drilled holes for the two new kenwoods and installed both of them. Here is where I think my mistake is. I did not unhook the battery on this day (yes...rookie mistake ): ) and left the speaker wire dangling in the front driver side door; touching the door and each other for probably an hour. Now when I turn everything back on there is no sound to be heard, but I still get the popping in that driver side rear speaker! Did I short something out in the CD player? What is the most cost effective way to go about this?

I figured out the problem by the way.
For one the connection behind the CD player to the Factory speaker wire was a little rough, so I re-crimped that.
Secondly, and more importantly, there was metal from the back left speaker touching metal of the frame of my car. The funny part is that the metal was not actually touching the car, it was really close to it. So it only grounded out whenever the car vibrated, such as when the engine started and remained on. That really threw me off for a bit. Anyways, I hope this helps someone's situation.
