Well I got my second battery in the rear of my car right next to the amp. The distance from my battery + to amp is very short I would say 12 inches give or take a few. Since it is a very short distance to my amp do I need to fuse it?

i would personally as you have a constant source there now so if anything were to happen say a dead short in the amp (unlikely but possible) theres no disconnect between there besides the power lead itself which i assure you takes much more heat to burn through. just from a strictly safety stand point yes yes yes always use fuses between batteries and amps

keep it greasy

When in doubt fuse it! Easier to replace a fuse than explaining why your vehicle burned to the ground. The fuse is to protect the wire and not the amplifier.

Always fuse battery connections. The purpose for that fuse is to protect the wire, which can cause a fire is grounded or more current that the fire is rated for is drawn though it. No exceptions.

Post some pics of you install afterwards too, we always like to see completed and progress pics. GL

EDIT: I had to take a leak break from my post and audiocableguy actually said what I did first.

Heres a pic as you can see the distance is VERY short I am having trouble finding a fuse location. And as the wire being really shorts its hard to get it to bend so it can securely stay in

I know that there must be a hidden fuse on the wire that goes to the front of the car.

Just checking.   Are there fuses built into the amp?   If so I really do not see a need for the fuse on the power wire.  Of course if there are no fuses on the amp you need to protect the amp.

I would fuse it right at the battery terminal.

I, too, would fuse it.  I would route the amp power wire along side the feed wire and install the fuse holder behind the battery, next to the other fuse holder.

There are no fuses inside the amp.  If they are not mounted on the endcap that your battery is blocking the view of, it does  not have one.

As stated above YES you need to put a fuse between the battery and the amp.

Just trying to stop you before you disassemble the amp.   I know for a fact that there are no fuses inside the amp.

Before you think I'm truely crazy, the fuse design explains the above terminal block. Pretty simple and fits in small spaces.

DUDE!!! That is sweet!

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

The Terminal Fuse Holder is $20 and the fuses are $16. These $$$ are from West Marine which leads me to believe they can be found cheaper other places.
