so i recently tried to do something pretty crazy in my wrx sedan. (4) kicker L5 12's. it didnt turn out well, due to the  box being pretty small and the subs being inverted the box sounds horrible. so im selling the subs and looking into something new.

what i need: 2 12's or 10's that can be run well by my kicker zx1500.1 that dont require a massive box for really good spl. im not opposed to going with some used options, as long as theyre in great condition. im going to have around 400ish to spend

So you have 4 Kickers and found you don't have room for them.  Why not try two (and use part of your $400 to have a new enclosure made)?

inverting subs has nothing to do with them sounding horrible unless the driver has nasty mechanical noise during excursion...By you saying that means you know little about subwoofers and enclosures.

alright..cool, that could explain why im coming to a 12volt forum for information.

as far as using 2 of the subs. wont work. theyre dual 4ohm coils and my amp is only 2 ohm stable

run two of the subs(2 ohm each) for a total of 4 ohms so the amp pushes 750x1 RMS and puts 375 to each, which should be more than enough. If anyone disagree's please post as I am still learning aswell.

The diagram is correct, but the wording is backwards. Each pair of coils will be in series for 8ohms, then the pair of woofers is parallel for 4ohms. The wattage to each is correct too, good job.

Agreed: why not use two of the woofers you already have? If space is still a concern, try a ported or bandpass box with the two woofers in an isobarik alignment. It should cut the box's volume in half if I remember right.
