i am sure i already know the answer to this one but just wanted to be sure before i ruin anything...

I recently purchased Sirius sat radio for my 99 STS.. the antenna wires are all super long and were easy to hide but the power cord is really short and i hate the idea that you have to see it and that you have to remember to shut the reciever off each time you exit..

question is.. can i cut the end off that goes into the cigarette lighter and wire it directly to the fuse box without hurting anything? this way it will turn off when the car is turned off

No. The lighter adapter is stepping the voltage down to 5 volts. You will definately ruin the Sirius tuner with more than the 5 volts it's designed for. Just get a lighter socket adapter and then wire the + lead the acc or ignition 12 volts at the Caddys steering wheel harness and ground the - lead to chassis.
