I just recently purchased a 1979 Monte Carlo and I want to put a system in it. But the stereo was non-existent when I purchased it, and there is absolutely no wires to connect to.

I know how to test wires with my multimeter, but I never found out how or where to tap into the ignition wire for the accessory on the cd player.

I would appreciate any help.

Go to the ignition harrness that runs along the steering column. Dont think they had set wire colors back then so you may need to test. You can grab your acc and constant there.

I found the wires and tapped into them. The stereo is working great.

Thanks.
