sorry, that was not informative.. what is the next best wire to connect my REM wire from my amp to.. now that the remote wire from my headunit is blown. -------------

If you don't mind your amp being on anytime the key is on, you can connect it to the same wire you have the radio's red wire connected to.

what is that wire for... the yellow is the power wire right.

The yellow wire is the constant power feed. The red wire is the switched power wire that tells your radio to turn off when the key turns off.

awesome thanks a lot... im thinking about getting a new headunit anyway.. one of the alpine IDA-x's.. my h/u doesnt even have any preouts. will i need to get a whole new mounting brackets or should i slide into my old one? i have a sony now.. -------------

As long as the Sony radio is not a 2 shaft unit, you should not need to buy anything new to mount the Alpine.

one more thing... is it bad that my amp goes into protect for a second everytime before it powers up

No it is not bad. Some amps come on in protect untill it runs a few checks and sees that it is ok to turn on, then it comes on.
