I have a 1997 camaro. I am installing 2 amps under a custom built box that goes in the back cargo space. There is plenty of space because the box doesn't dip down into the deep part of the cargo area it just sits flat across. My question is should I use a fan for this application or is that enough breathing room for my amps?

Thanks

Mike

First try it without fans.  After a few weeks of breaking in the subs (or whatever is being powered by the amps), crank the amp up real good and see if it goes into thermal protection after an hour or so.  If so, you probably need to give it more air or worst case, put cooling fans in.  I dunno where you live but also keep in mind what it would be like in the summer.

If there's plenty of room around the amps then in general you won't need to worry about adding in cooling fans.  Of course this can also depend on whether or not your amps are mounted with the heat sink on top or bottom, and also on what kind of amp it is.
