im just looking for average opinion of people on Kicker comp VR 12's vs. Rockford HX2s. id like a personal comparison from someone who has maybe run both subs and which they liked better.
First lemme verify one thing with you: are you talking about the Punch HX2s or the Power HX2s? There is definitely a significant difference between them.
The Power HX2s have about double the power handling of the Punch HX2s, and thus I would put them at about the same level as the Kicker Solo-Baric L7s. The Punch HX2s I'd say are more on par with a Solo-Baric L5. Of course the Solo-Barics and the HX2s are, in general, very different subs, but that's just a rough comparison among models from each manufacturer.
But to answer your question: the Comp VRs can't even compare to the HX2s--Punch or Power series.
I've never run the two side-by-side in a listening test, but I have heard each on separate occasions. The Comp VRs are pretty good subs, but in my opinion they just don't hit anywhere near as hard as the HX2s.
I have 10" HX2 (RFD2110, 2 x 2 ohm.) in my SEAT Cordoba (it's like VW Polo Classic but made in Spain). It works fine in 26 liter sealed box, driven by Rockford Fosgate 800.2 (bridged > 1 ohm. load)... it takes a lot of juice, but it sounds great! Compare to Kicker... i don't know ;-)

Yep i too would go for a CompVR after having owned one previously, very nice sounding sub that still lives in one of my mates cars. Having said that one of my other mates has a HX2 goes loud but isnt very defined, and dosnt sound too crash hot for the money... but as i said very loud.

I have two 12" Punch HX2 DVC subs powered by a JL Audio 500/1 amp and they sound fantastic! They can handle far more than what they're rated at (500 RMS / 1000 peak) and sound great all the while.
