Hi i had a question about wiring my Subwoofers.
I currently have 3 Kicker C104 Subs. 4 Ohm Single Voice Coil Subwoofers.
I own a Rockford Fosgate Punch 500.2 Amplifier. Stable at 2 Ohms.
What would be my best way into wiring this?
I have come to find out wiring 2 subs in parallel and one normally would give each sub 125 RMS but thats rated. And 2 Subs would be running at 2 OHMS and one would be at 4 OHMS.
The rockford amp gives out more power then they are rated therefore meaning 2 Of the subs will be receving the exact same amount of power while the third would be getting +/- 15 RMS of the other sub. Would this make for a bad sound quality?
Running this amp at 1.34 OHMS with low gains bad for the amp?
Another question is underpowering Component and coaxial speakers.
I plan on buying Fosgate Power Series Components T162S and Power Coaxials T1692C For my car and they are both 100 RMS Speakers a Piece. I am looking into buying a Kicker Zx350.4 which is rated 65 RMS x4 @ 4OHMS but most people tell me that is more like 80 RMS x 4 because Kicker also underates their amps but would underpowering these speakers make me lose a lot of quality? Im looking for Loud, Clear and detailed music not just LOUD.
Any suggestions? Thanks.
1. You are trying to work with an unmatched system. Go back to square one : the design. Woofer wiring link to the left tells you that a combo of 3 SVC 4 ohm speakers will yield either 1.33 or 12 ohms. Do not attempt to get creative with wiring...if the combinations in the woofer wiring guide don't give you other options, don't invent your own.
An amplifier rated to accept a low load of 4 ohms bridged (or 2 ohms per channel) means just that. Is 1.33 ohms lower than 2 or 4 ohms? Yes, it is, so don't consider it.
Setting amplifer gains is a function of carefully matching the amp input to the deck's output. There is no such thing as using "low gains".
2. If you just used 10 watts per channel for any front speakers, that would be plenty of power. You don't need to worry about achieving full continuous power rating to power those speakers.
You have been getting characteristically bad advice from your sources. All this stuff about "underrating" is nonsense. In this day and age of overhyped spec sheets, mainstream manufacturers would be doing themselves no favor at all by intentionally "underrating" their goods. Consider the spec'd ratings as what they are: optimistic.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.
I might also supplement stevdart's response with an address to your last line. If you are looking for clear and/or detailed, look elsewhere for your equipment. The Fosgates will do nothing but split your head open with their TERRIBLY brash high frequency response, and I can certainly recommend FAR better amplifiers for the highs, as well...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
