I am looking to get an different amp to push two 12 inch Alpine Type R's. They are 1500 watt peak each and 500 rms each. I was looking at a Kenwood KAC-X1R, 2400 watt peak power or I was also considering a Kenwood KAC9104D, 1800 watt peak. Does anyone have any sugestions or preferences for either? Also, I have a sealed box, 1 cu. ft. per sub, should I look into getting or making a ported box?

if you want it louder than yes, get a port. if you are mainly looking for good sq, go with what you have. what are the RMS on those amps? peak doesnt really mean anything.

I had the kenwood 9152d it was 1800 max and "900rms" it said, but my buddies infinity 611a (656watts rms) smoked it with the same subs, kappa 12vqs. Do yourself a favor and don't bother with the kenwoods at all.THey are very over rated and and have very poor sound quality. Look at like an alpine m1000 v power its close to the same price and will walk those over all kenwoods
