I have an alpine mono amp (1000 watts rms) and a rockford 4 channel (400 wats rms total)

I put in an HO alternator (160 amps) and upgraded the big three to 0 gauge.

Buttt... my headlights are flickering.

What I don't have is a bigger battery, but I'm not sure if that matters. Is the alternator I have sufficient? Any recomendations would be greatly appreciates.

You didn't say which mono amp you have, so I will assume a worst-case scenario.

1000/.60=1666 watts in
1666/14=119.5A

400/.6=667 watts in
667/14=47.6A

119.5+47.6=167.1

Your two amps, by themselves, can suck more curent than the alternator can produce. One of two things MUST happen:

1: You need more alternator.
2: You need less system (or don't play your existing system as hard)

That's what you can do.

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

The mono amp is an alpine m1000 v-power which is running at 2 ohms.

I've been trying to find an alternator around 200 amps, but it's hard to find for my 89 civic wagon.

Have you checked with a local rebuilder to see if they can install a larger stator in your alternator?

I don't think there is a rebuilder around, but I'll look into it.

I did find a iraggi 180 amp one for 300, which I can afford but I messaged him if there was a 200 one around.

If there is none available, would the 180 be fine, cause the rest of my car is stock.
