Im really looking at the 300WRMS amps, and the Rockford punch 301s's are pretty tasty with there reputation for going louder than stating.

Im looking for quality bass though along with a instant headache.

Has anyone had ANY bad experiences with any of the amps listed in the url?

cheers all

Out of all those I would choose the Alpine MRV-T420 it will give you the best mixture of SQ/SPL.. But if you don’t want to spend the extra money than go with the fosgate 301.

We have more lightning audio bolt amps that come back for repairs than any other brand I know of.  so yes, I've had many bad experiences with the bolt series from lightning.  Never had problems with rockford or alpine so you can't really go wrong with them.

stay away from the kenwood amps. I had 2 600 watt kenwood amps pushing 2 jbl 12's and it was loud but sounded like crap. Much distortion, not a clean source of power and non efficient.

Phoenix and Fosgate are the best there. Some people like Directed a lot, but their damping factor and SNR are very very bad. As in less than some crap like Pyramid, even.

hrmmm...

if I was forced to pick out of that litter, I would personally go with the Viper amps or the Directed amps (same company, both DEI...) I have always found the Alpine amps to have a very low capacitance, and if you are going to be driving subs, they just dont seem to keep up...

and in the past, I admit, some of the DEI stuff has been questionable, but these days they do build a quality amp...I havent been a big Rockford fan since the days of the old Punch 40s and such...they have gone way down hill since then...and the Phoenix amps are OK if you are buying the top of the line, but the lower lines seem to be poor IMO...

is there any place you could pick up other products? do you HAVE to shop there?

I checked out DEI's site because I was considering their amps and they said damping factor of 50 and SNR of 88dB...both of those are very bad. Even Lanzar can beat them.

Living in England, alot of the US companies u speak of aren't as available as alot of people in the UK would like.

U might have heard of www.Bassjunkies.com which have pretty large range:

 https://www.bassjunkies.com/Prodlist.asp?Search=1&Department=AMPS

But prices aren't cheap. Looking around ive seen Infinity Kappa Perfect 12 advertised from US webstores at around £150 (converted from US $), UK prices - £200 +

BTw, how crucial are damping factors and SNR rates? What are they measured in should i be looking for higher numbers in these factors or lower? Sorry to play to the dumb ass, but being a newbie n all.

P.S doesn't it just piss u off sooo much when companies can't get the true stats of products - you will notice on Bassjunkies website.
