I was just thinking... because I have a 2.5Vrms HU, a 10Vrms EQ with a subwoofer output control.  Is it possible to max out your amp with the gain of the AMP all the way down but by adjusting the SUB control of Equalizer? Because I want to use my Sub control on my EQ as my sub amp gain so i can control from up front. KEEP IN MIND the sub control is NOT a bassboost.

But i have experimented with the gain of the amp all the way down and the sub control the EQ all the way up and it still gets pretty loud. I am going to measure the voltage out of the amp today or tomorrow to see what AC voltage the amp is actually giving out with the gain all the way down.

yes you can depending on the input voltage

likewise the gain can be all the way up and not be putting out max power either

The gain control does not determine the amplifier output all by itself.  An amplifier is capable of producing 100% power at any gain control position.  The gain sets the sensitivity of the amplifier to input voltage (and in some cases determines the slope of the amplifier's power curve.)  Feeding an amplifier enough voltage will drive it into full output; the gain only sets how much input voltage is required to do that.  This is why it is very important to set the gain control properly, matching it to the voltage of whatever is driving it, and NOT to think of it as a volume control.

Thank you for the responses! Because I am getting a T10001BD to push 2 Dual 4ohm 10inch punch HX2 which are 500 Watts RMS.  Therefor meaning I will need 1000Watts... or for better understanding. I WANT 1000 watts and will be running the amp @1ohm... And Looking through the posts Ive seen the Formula **Power=Voltage^2 divded by Resistence**.  in my case Equation will look like Voltage = sqr ( 1000w * 1ohm) and that comes out to be 31.6Volts. So even with the amp gain all the way down. Is that the voltage I need in order to get (Approximately) 1000Watts out of my amp?

Yes.  I recommend you read the "How to set your gain" sticky post.
