I recently tried to install an after market stereo in my 2007 Dodge Charger. I quickly found out that this was a little different then the cars I've done in the past. I tried to reinstall my Oem stereo but now it do not work. I have power but nothing turns on and there is no display. I have talked to a stereo installer and he said I would have to solder the connections. Can anyone give me any info on this subject. Thank you.
Matt

Sounds like you cut the factory harness . Match the wires exactly how they were did you cut them or splice them when you installed the factory stereo

yeah if you cut the factory harness you have to match the wires exactly and solder them, this system works through data signal so hopefully if you did cut the factory harness you did not damage this part of the wiring. and they do make a wiring harness for this car that intergrates the data and gives you everything you need to wire up an aftermarket radio
good luck

So in this case he would need a metra kit and slpicing the wires won't work .new cars less personality and more computers. So if he cut the harness means there is a sensor on the harness connector that comunicates to the cars computer.

How many speaker system is it? 4, 6 or 8? Your new deck probably didn't power up due to the fact that it wasn't getting an accessory feed.

yes the radio turns on and off through the data signal so lets say that if he was to cut the factory wiring all at once then it would directly send power to the data wires and cause damage to the system

OK Grate guys. I appreciate all the help. So I guess my next step is to try and solder the wiers insted of crimping. Evrything ells seams to be working fine so hopfoly I didn't damage the bus system.
