* x4 type-r sealed * Somehow the '-argh' didn't show. Hello. I have a friend with 4 10" Type-Arghs and he wants them to sound better/go lower. I listened to them today and told him I could help him out. He now has them in (CRAP) prefabs that are TINY! I'd say they're tuned @ about 40Hz. They don't go as low as he'd like (he liked my G5 tuned @ 26.6Hz alot -but I think that's a bit low for him) and they aren't very musical! They are powered by 2 Kenwood KAC-9103D's. They're going in a Tahoe but he'd still like about 1/2 of his cargo area open, so i'm thinking i'm gonna have to do them sealed. *I did tell him that I could get only 2 of them to outperform his 4, but, of course, he wouldn't hear it, so i've got 4 to work with. The question is; how many cubic feet should I put them in? *I did try to PM aznboi3644, since I know he could tell me, but his PM box is full. ------------- 2013 Kia Rio -90a alternator

Type R's sound like crap to me in sealed boxes...low end blows.
I'd take two ported over four sealed. I don't like cramming 10lb of doodie into a 5lb bag.
Get some workable dimensions up and we'll come up with something

Thanks for the reply, and sorry it took so long for me to get back here. I'll tell him what you said, and i'll get some dimensions. I'll get back to you... ------------- 2013 Kia Rio -90a alternator

Ok. I finally got some dimensions; W=42" H=15" D=dependent. I had him listen to Late Nite Tip (slowed) through my G5 @ 26.6Hz, and he's starting to believe me that 2 TypeR's ported will outperform 4 sealed. I told him what you said and he's starting to see. If you can design something for him with those specs that will sound good, get low, and get pretty loud, then that will be awesome (cutout specs would be great! wink, wink). I'm betting your typical 33Hz tuning for TypeR's will be good for him. ------------- 2013 Kia Rio -90a alternator

Ok I just realized you were talking about 10's lol. My bad.
Well I'm not sure how deep you're friends cargo area is...I can do a design for all four if he is willing to give up enough space.

He's got a Tahoe, but he still wants about half of his cargo area -so all four (ported) won't fit! I'm'a do 2 ported...

Dude, i'm glad you haven't got back to me yet! He actually has 48" of width, not 42. W= 48", H= 15", D= up to 22" available. ------------- 2013 Kia Rio -90a alternator

48" of width helps a lot with some things. I'll be gone till sunday but I'll try to get the design done on my vacation
