4 speakers, 2 channels and no idea

Hello, I'm getting a sound system for my mustang and have a speaker wiring question... I've looked on this website's forums, and many other places... And I mean MANY and found no answers for me. :(

Ok, first the basics...

I have 4 speakers, ( 2 loudspeakers, 2 tweeters) and 2 cross overs from a component set. I have an amplifier that I can use 2 channels on for this set up.

This is what I want, ( or want to know if I can do this...)

Have the 2 tweeters in stereo mode, and the loud speakers in mono mode on the front channel from my head unit. Sounds simple but I haven't found the right information to make sure its safe for my amp and speakers, oh ya, and my safety so my car dont catch on fire and I burn alive cause the music is turned up loud.... :lol:

And now the details...

Loudspeakers - 90 W RMS SVC @ 4 Omh
Tweeters - 50 W RMS @ 4 Ohm

Amp...
50 W RMS @ 4 ohm x 1 Ch
100 W RMS @ 2 ohm x 1 Ch
200 W RMS @ 4 ohm x 2 Ch
Min ohm unbridged 2 ohm
Min ohm bridged 4 ohm
And if you need more info, the amp is RF P400-4

And the rest of my system if you want to know in case there is more options.

Rear Speakers...
2 x 100 W RMS SVC @ 2 ohms
Hooked to my other 2 channels from the P400-4 amp.

Sub Speakers...
2 x 6-1/2" 150 W RMS SVC @ 4 ohm
Hooked to my other amp thats a RF P300-1

This is whats on my mind oh how to hook up but want to make sure..

Have one tweeter on channel 1, the other tweeter on channel 2, then bridge channel 1 and 2 with the loud speakers in parallel.
Set the amp to All Pass filter, and put the crossover filters on just for the tweeters highs (since I'm really really sure the highs won't do any thing to my loudspeakers).

Now with this set up, I haven't been able to find a diagram set up like that so far.

I didn't read your entire post but you really do not want to wire your woofers in mono. If they were subwoofers, maybe but they are definitely going to affect your stereo separation in a negative manner.

So my tweeters would be in mono then? What about matching the RMS to the tweeters and loud speakers? Would it affect my amp in a negative way as well?
I'm just looking at the pros and cons of this, if some day I do this with subs and don't care about stereo.

Many of the ratings you posted do not make sense.  Please list the makes and model numbers of all the gear you want to install.

If I interpret your situation correctly, you have a 2-channel amp, 2 woofers, 2 tweeters and a set of passive crossovers?  Are the crossovers designed for the woofers and tweeters?  Are they a component set perhaps?

The front speakers are from a component set and are already installed. The rest is on its way.

The component set - I bought a few years back and the model number is no longer listed, but this is the closest one to it, REF6820CS.

So, I hope thats enough information for ya.

The Infinity's you bought "a few years back", are you sure they're 2ohm? Please list the actual model #. Reason I ask is, they didn't make them in 2ohm up until a few years ago. We need to make sure.

Just to be directly to the point, dallas:  use only woofers and tweeters that are sold and matched with a corresponding crossover network.  Don't mix and match.

The crossover is critical.  It is designed to split the signal between the woofer and tweeter, balance the output of the components, and prevent damage from overpowering (usu. the tweeter is padded).  Each component set, then, is attached to a channel on the amp that powers the fronts.

When you borrow a crossover from some other set and then choose different drivers, you are in for disappointment.  You could learn to test the drivers (if you don't have complete parameters) and build a custom crossover network...but I'm willing to bet you'd like to get the sound system up and running sometime within the next year!

Ya I was just wondering if it was possible to set it up like that since I don't have much experience in bridging amps. I'm just going to go with my original plan of a speaker per channel, the safe way.

What do you mean "a speaker per channel"?  You mean a component set (woof and tweet) with its crossover per channel, right?
