1996 dodge intrepid rear speakers

I am installing a Pioneer DEH-2300aftermarket stereo in my 1996 Dodge Intrepid. I have all the wires hooked up, 3 1/2" dash work, 5 1/4" doors work as well, but the rear 6" X 9" are dead. The CD player has worked fine in every car it has been in and I have read every post on here about same like problems, yet my car is not an Infinity system and has no loose or spare wires. I know my 1992 Grand Caravan had the Infinity system and you had to have a wire hooked up to get the built in amp to work for the rears. Also of note, I do not have the wiring harness yet for it, I was trying to see if I could get it to work before getting that.

Are you sure the speakers work put them on a 9 volt battery to see if the pop or push the center of the cone in to c if it goes down wit no problem. Or if could be a faulty wiring harness on the radio pull the radio out and plug the wires that go to the 6x9s to other speakers. If that works then its the car wiring

still-walkin, thanks for the reply. I had the whole system working with the factory head unit installed in it. I am going to buy the aftermarket wiring harness and see if that solves the problem and if not, dig deeper into the dash for a possible missing wire. The OEM wiring harness has no spots for a broken wire, unless it came out of the harness including the pin.

so you saying you cut the wires? just to test it out? i don't get it?

There is nothing in my post that said a word on cutting any wires. I hooked into the OEM wiring harness with T clips, didn't cut one wire, didn't need to. I used the correct wiring diagram from this site, though the one listed for a 97 intrepid, since 96 isn't listed is incorrect on colors for some wire.

Get a harness and hook up your deck remote wire to the remote turn on on the harness.  (blue/white wire)  that should turn on your factory amp, and get the speakers to work.  Why you did it with the t-clips is a mystery to me.  You should've done it with the harness first....you basically just made that job harder than it really is!

Why would you do that? We have harnesses at best buy for like 20 bucks.... hell i think walmart even sells those for like 10 bucks. It's a real simple and common harness that shouldn't be hard to find. There's no reason to use t clips in a car anyways.... if you're gonna do it yourself man at least do it the right way and don't chop up your factory wiring they make these harness adaptors idiot proof. get one and hook up the remote turn on/antenna wire, and you should be good.

As I said before, no wires were cut, the OEM harness is still intact in the car, I only tapped into the wires that were there. Considering there is no wire left on the OEM harness that isn't used, short of the dimmer and the Illumination wire, there is nothing that the aftermarket stereo or the aftermarket harness will hook into to turn on the rear speakers.
