OK, i just bought an alpine type X, after i sold my  type r 12's x2, box, and amp to a freind..........the rms wattage for the sub is 1000 watts rms.....so i'd be pretty happy w/ a 1000 watt class D mono-block amp.....

questions is, i work at bestbuy and i can get the mrp-m1000 vpower 1000w rms (@ 2 ohms) for  around $150 w/ discount and a gift card.......Howvere everywhere ive read online people say it will do an ok job pushing the sub, and may cut out from time to time.....people do say teh PDX1.100 is a better amp overall for SQ and SPL, which i belive. However you can't get it for less than $400 Dollars anywhere, even on ebay. Im a college student so eveyr penny saved helps, until i graduate. So i can't seem to justify paying and extra  $200-$300 for an amp, that is the same rms wattage as the mrp-m1000, when i can get it so cheap....

keep in mind...I orgially had 1 underpowerd (pushing 300 watts) type r and it was ok for me,,,,and then i got my second typeR from my roomate and they were each pushing 300w, so i had a total system power of 600W rms ttotal (still underpowered) and it was pretty dam good for me......

so which one? and other recomnendations for 1000w amp around the $250 region?

The money is WELL spent on the PDX amp. Don't cheap out, save for the good stuff!

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."
