I know that there are about a million varying circumstances, but how much bass should I get from a TMA500.1 wired to 2- 12"  JL 12's at 2 ohms? I mean it feels like alot in the car, and it makes things dance on the seat and dash, (it is not extremely loud out of the car, you know like when you can hear and feel someones music from a block away) but how do I know if it is all set up right or if maybe I can be getting more out of it? it is in a ported box (not round tube openings but slotted openings) and I have the x-over at about 45hz, I have upgraded my system from 80 watts per woofer to 200 watts per woofer, but do not seem to have gotten that level of bass increase, I really want that thing to pound my heart out of my chest, do I need alot more power?  Just give me your input so I have some sort of reference

What JL 12's are they, W1's, W3's, etc. etc.?

To me, 45hz seems a bit low for a x-over frequency but it all depends on the car, system, install, etc.

I've done a ton of the TMA amps and they take a bit longer than I like to turn on, but afterwards they do have the grunt power behind them to run JL subs.  I usually pair up a TMA500.1 with JL W1's but I have run W3's with them.  W6's and W7's need a better amp to run them even though the power is right.  The damping factor of the TMA's are relatively low so they sound boomy to me.

I am not SURE they are JL subs, they say XTREME on the front, so I should get another identical amp and run one for each sub,,,,,?

Those'd be Orions... And barely even in the same LEAGUE as even entry level JL stuff...

It all reminds me of something that Molière once said to Guy de Maupassant at a café in Vienna: "That's nice. You should write it down."

so what is that? I always thought Orion was good stuff, is it even one level above Pyle or Audiovox?

Try changing your x-over freq. between 60 & 80hz and then tell us what's happening.

Orion was good stuff, pre Directed.

Was... Most of the newest gear? Maybe a step above "Swap-O-Rama" Special. Not the same stuff at ALL...

It's clear why name recognition is worth something, especially to Directed. All the assimilations have gone to hell. Sad.

Living in Phoenix was cool during the 80's and early 90's. The hottest companies were in Tempe. Orion was down the street from PPI, Rockford was around the corner. MTX setup shop. On the weekends you could find rides with all the new gear. Something broke, you could drop it off. Wayne Harris would hang out occasionally. Good Memories.

If you don't know who Wayne Harris is:

lol. I feel like I'm taking a stroll down memory lane.  The hay-days of Pheonix.  I miss the days where MTX, Rockford, and Orion meant something.  I feel sad by the way things have gone in the last 15 years.  Oh well, I guess I'm getting into my "I'm so old, I'm starting to talk about the good ol days" years.
