I just installed my Jensen VM-9412 into my 2006 Explorer, and I'm having a problem.  Everytime I turn off the car the radio is supposed to keep running untill I open the door, but it doesn't.  The radio will shut off and close.  When the stock radio was installed this feature worked perfectly.  I also had this same headunit installed in my 2006 F-150 and it also worked untill I opened the door.  I'm pretty sure the wiring is fine, so I don't think its that.

Also when I got to start the car the radio will not open up.  It will start playing but the tv will not open.  I have to hit the open button.  But if I move the key to the run position it will work fine.

I have no idea what is going on with this thing, but any help would be appericated.

Thanks.

That feature (radio on until door opens) in some Ford products is a function of the factory head unit, so if you install an after market HU you will lose that feature.  On other models, there is an accessory off delay relay that often is defective.  On still others, the feature is not available.  I can't say for sure what the situation is in your Explorer as I have never worked on a 2006, but you could check it out in a maintenance manual for your model.

If you wish to keep the radio (or any other device that is powered by an accessory circuit) on until a door is opened, you can do so by creating a latch when the accessory is turned on with the relay shown below on the left, then breaking ground to the latch when a door is opened as shown with the relay below on the right. While this will keep the radio on, the entire accessory circuit will see 12V+ until a door is opened with the key in the off position.
