so i always wondered.

i have this 2 channel mono amplifier.
i have two 4 ohm subwoofers.

what would it do if i wired one woofer bridged, and the other on one of the channels. what load would the amplifier see and how? im assuming this would be a bad idea, but im still curious, lol.

Do you have a mono amp with 2 sets of speaker terminals, or do you really have a 2 channel mono amp?  Or is it a 2 channel Bridgeable amp?

its a 2 channel amp, but it has a mono/stereo switch, making the signal to both channels the same. but it is a bridgable 2 channel amp.

Chances are the amp is only capable of powering a 4 ohm bridged load.  Bridging one 4 ohm woofer is all it will be capable of.  If you insist on bridging one and running one off of one of the channels,  the channel that has the extra woofer connected to it will be seeing a 1.333333 ohm load.  The bridged woofer will be getting twice the power of the other woofer.  Way back in the past it was not uncommon for us to use passive crossovers and bridge an 8 ohm woofer across the amp and run a pair of 6 X 9 inch full range speakers wired in stereo.  This would yield a 4 ohm mono load across the amp.  I would not reccomend trying this with a 4 ohm speaker bridged and another wired in stereo on a single channel.

the make was a metrik max-802 lol.
it mean it never gave me any problems what so ever. ran cool only seemed it put out its rated power of 300 rms bridged to one 4 ohm JL 12 w3v3. but i sold it to a friend that wanted it.

omg i don't know what i did to that last post?

this was the hyperlink i tried to post
