I have room in my vehicle for Two 8" woofers or a single 12" woofer.

The subs choices I have are:

2 8" Diamond Audio 4ohm DVC 150w RMS in 0.5cf sealed each.
or
1 Audiobahn AW1200Q 4ohm DVC 700w RMS in 2.0cf ported tuned to 37hz.

Which application would be best for SPL? SQ is not a huge concern for me. I would have 150w RMS per channel if using the 8", or 400w to the 12".

neither are great. trade all 3 in and get a better 12 in.

Whats your amp.

sounds like you are on a low budget, try getting a type E 12 inch alpine. GREAT low end speakers. I fellow i know at an install shop has two of these in the back of his Matrix and these things set off car alarms in the parking lot. He built a huge box, not even gonna guess the cubic feet. SQ is really low but they can pount if you have a good box.

Diamond makes outstanding speakers and Audiobahn makes crap.  But as much as I hate anything with the name Audiobahn on it, a singe 12" in the proper enclosure will probably generate higher SPL than two 8" drivers... although only a meter will know for sure.  It will probably sound MUCH worse doing it, but if all you want is loud noise use the 12".

Thanks for the responses. It sounds like the 12" would be louder, I'll probably go that route at least until I can save for a decent single 15" setup. The amp I have is an Audiobahn 8002T.

In all reality, there isn't much difference in SQ between two Audiobahn 12's and two DA 8's, as I've used both. I've used Audiobahn amps and subs (among others) for a long time, and the price/performance can't be beat.

Thanks for all the help. Eventually I will go with a ported 15" enclosure with single 15", so if there's any suggestions for a 15" sub suited for a ported enclosure (I'll have ~400W RMS), it would be appreciated.
