alpine cda 7840

Anyone have exp with this deck? It's a 99 model. I do have the manual, but other than that I can't find any info on it...

I'm wanting to think it was built for SQ:

• ONLY has bass/treble and balance/fader adjustments
• Front and rear 4v preouts
• Blackout mode

The only thing I remember about it was the display did not have light bulbs in it.  It was a fluorescent bulb, and the power supply for the bulb used to fail, and it was not easy to repair.  

Wow, that sucks. How much do the power supplies take to repair? -It's still good, i'm just wondering.

It sold for $299 new. How much do you think I could get for it? The only thing that's wrong is that it's missing the faceplate trim.

The fluorescent bulbs are discontinued,  I have 2 left if you wind up needing one.   I charge 70 dollars to repair the supply.

Good to know, thanks! I actually don't have any plans for this unit, yet. I'm going to keep it for now for a backup if my 9830 ever goes out (knocks on wood).

How much do the bulbs go for. In other words, how much would you charge me if I ever need one? Oh, and how complex are they to change?

I was mostly trying to see if anyone has had experience with this deck. Mainly, if it was built for SQ because of how simple it is (4v preouts on a 99 model?), at the cost of $299 new.
