I need urgent help with this subject, I have a cda 9807, the face plate is silver and is really beat up.

I would like to replace it with a black one, the cda 9805 is the same unit without the mp3 and wma features, is has a black faceplate.

Would the 9805 face work on the 9807?

Any help would be appreciated.

A lot of their faces are interchangeable. If every button is identical and placement is exact, and the connector on back of the faces are the same, chances are it will work. If all above criteria are met and it does not work, you could always disassemble the faces and swap the covers and buttons.

That is a good Idea of swaping the covers.

Are  the power connectors the same? I have one from a cda 7842, will it fit the 9807?

It will save me time on install.

I swaped the circuitry from the 9807 faceplate into a cda 9805 faceplate shell  and it works perfect.

The faceplates are the same configuration wise except for the circuitry and color cda 9807 is silver, 9805 is black.

I bought the 9805 nose piece with the buttons for 26 bucks from a Alpine online parts distribuitor.
