high’s drain when bass gets loud

Alright, Im running four alpine type-r's, on 1 jl 1000/1, I have all my inside highs (4 pioneer 6 1/2's & 2 pioneer 6x9's) running off of a jl 300/4 amp. I also run a zapco SEQ (aka zap board), and when i bring the bass up on the equilizer the highs are no longer crisp, it seems as if they are drowned out. They Still Play but they sound very static like. Im wondering if the 1000/1 is pulling more power than the 300/4. I run 0 guage, 300A fuse, Yellow Top Optima up Front and In the Trunk, 200A HO Alt. I've never run into this problem, and i've been having this setup for a while. Any Insight?

Try it again with the sub amp unpluged. If it still drowns, the subs aren't the cause.

Yah I tried that it still drowns

The Zapco SEQ has been out of production for a while.
The static you here could very well be a bad slider(s).
Email the guys at zapco and ask if they have experienced
this.

Why yes, it is pulling more current, as it produces more power and probably has more thermal output.

Are you sending the signal from the Zap board to both amplifiers? Perhaps you should send that altered signal to only the Mid/High Range amp, and let the sub amp use it's on board eq's to deal with your subs cut off range?

JL amps use Regulated Power Supplies. I highly doubt your problem is voltage. Disconnect the SEQ, run the signal directly to the amps and see what happens.

yes to answer your questions I am running the seq to both amplifiers. I know it is out of date I recently had it serviced by a local person who deals with zapco's at his shop and the guy said it was working perfectly. Maybe I need to have it checked again?

First I will try and disconnect the zapco seq n report if my problem still continues.

Another ?. I know my eq is out of date. Is their any current equilizers that would better suit or better help my setup?
