ok, heres the problem.  I have a Kenwood KVT-512 w/ the NAV module, installed in my wifes 02 suburban.  it has been installed for 4 months now, and now all of the sudden it will completely lose power.  however all i have to do is pull the HU out and disconnect the power wire harness, and plug it back in and it works.  its like i have to reset it via the way i explained.  has anyone ran into this problem?  if so, is there an easy/easier fix for this problem?

thanks in advance,

Troy

Does it completely lose power or do you just lose sound output?  If it completely loses power, sounds defective and time to take it in for repair.  If just sound, you may have a shorted speaker.

not it completely loses power.  but like i said once you unplug the power connection from the back and plug it right back in, it works fine.....for awhile.  its happened 2 times in the past 2 weeks.  theres got to be something, triggering it to do this.  im just not sure what

thanks for the reply.  can anyone else shed some light?

if it loses sound, then you have a problem with the speaker leads.  Either a speaker is blown, or you have a faulty connection that pushes your HU into protect mode.

If the HU completely shuts off, you have another problem.

ok, the unit shuts completely off.  even the security light doesnt blink on the front, when the igintion is off, like its suppose too.  again, if i unplug the the plug that contains the power/ground/acc, and plug it right back in, it comes back on.  its like its loosing the main power (yellow).  again this installed in a 02 suburban with onstar (non-bose).  i am use a PAC OS-1.  could this be interfering, and if so, can someone provide me with a direct wiring diagram?

Thanks again for the responses

I think you hit it on the head. Have you checked all the wiring including the harnesses that connect together for proper connections and to make sure that maybe a pin hasn't come loose or is not making complete contact. It may be wiggling just enough to cause it to disconnect and loose power. You may want to check the ground and make sure that is good too because it can cause the same type of problem that you are having....
