any mid-level speaker is probably what you're looking for. even the "comp" series from kicker produces nice tight strong bass. there isn't alot of bad choices from kicker or fosgate.... just think mid-level. not cheapest, not most expensive. for fosgate, you probably want something comparable to a p2 series for example. but, it's been a while since i've messed with them so it may be called something else now.... either way, you get the idea. from the above subs or whatever you recomed is it better to run the amp at 4 ohms or 2 ohms. from what i understoood that i read somewhere the jl amp runs 500 watts from 1.5 -4 ohms, so it doesnt matter theload you put to it it still puts out 500watts?

JL Slash series amps such as your 500/1 run regulated inputs and outputs so yes, they put out the same amount of power with loads from 1.5 to 4 ohms.

Sound is very subjective. Since none of us will ever be in your car, we really do not care what you put in it...as long as you are happy. I never have had a problem with Rockford subs, and I have never heard of anyone having a problem with dayton subs. If you can, listen to each, and pick your favorite.
