which setup would sound better?

Would 2 12 inch Alpine type x running in 4 ohms at 850 watts rms sound good or 2 Pioneer Premier TS-W3001D2 's sound better running in 2 ohms at 1700 rms?

I am told you cannot run the Alpines in 2 ohms so thats why i was wondering if the two premiers would be a better choice?

P.S.The amp is a Hifonics bxi2608d and also runs 2600 watts in 1 ohm

depends on what you want....also depends on the enclosure.

So really you have no answer until you know what enclosure you are going to use.

I'd rather wire the Type X's to 1 ohm on that amp.

But if what Jimmy said is true and the X's can't be run at 2 Ohms then why would they be able to run at 1 Ohm?

Also I'd think the Pioneers would sound better considering the X's RMS at 1000, and you'd only be giving them 850. Perhaps under powering them would muddle the sound?

Aznboi is absolutely right though, the enclosure is gonna have a lot to do with the end product.

Yep. Wire the X's as suggested - to 1 ohm - and just set your gain carefully, you'll be fine!

Dual 4 ohm subs can be wired at 2 or 8 ohms, for each sub.  Or you can use one voice coil per sub (even though I hate this setup and there's a GINORMOUS debate on this issue already, so please don't comment on using one voice coil in a dvc sub) to get a single 4 ohm load per sub.  Wire the X's up at 2 ohms each and then parrallel them for a 1 ohm load.  And whoever said that you can't run them at 2 ohms, please disregard anything about anything they've told you.

Ok but if i wire the x's up and them have them for a 1 ohm load would that be putting out 2600 watts which would be 1300 per sub? If thats the case id rather go with the 1700 at 2 ohms with the pioneers because i do not want to put that much of a strain on my alternator
