is there any way to wire up 3 mtx 10inch jackhammers (4ohm, svc, 200 rms per sub) to an alpine class d mono amp (1000w rms @ 2 ohm//600w rms @ 4 ohm) so that it is at or above a 2 ohm load.. i cant wire them parallel because it puts out a 1.3ohm load.. and the only other wiring diagram is a series but it puts out a 12 ohm load.. does anyone know a way to wire it so that it is around a 2-4 ohm load? or any suggestions? p.s. the only 1ohm stable amp that i can buy is around $700 in my area =/

so what should i do? just get a smaller amp for the 3rd sub and just run 2 on the amp i already have? i would hate to

woops this laptop is messed up and clicked post, i would hate to have to buy another amp and hook it up because i already have 2 hooked up and there isnt much space left in the trunk, its a hatchback

Either that, or get different woofers. With three voice coils at 4 ohms, you won't be able to come up with anything...

have you tried to run the three at 1.3 ohms? The spec sheet lists 2 ohm stable, but you might be able to get away with running them at 1.3ohms. You'll have to be careful with the outputs, but it can still be done. I've installed a ton of systems with this configuration, and if you're careful with setting up the gains, amp placement for heat loss, you should be fine.

couldn't he run 2 of them in series to get an 8 ohm load and then run the third in parralel to get the 2.66 ohm load?

No. If he did that, the one in the parallel configuration will be receiving twice the power of the other two. It'll be three dB louder than them. It would WORK, but it's not the correct way to do it.

My advice would be to use only 2 of the speakers. If you must use 3 you need different woofers or a different amp. ------------- Support the12volt.com

i could maybe do this but ppl keep telling me that its really hard on the amp if u do this, i had a 1000w power acoustik hooked up to the 3 subs and it blew the amp(but it was pretty old), so i had to go buy one. i woulda just got the 1ohm stable amp but like i said its around 700$ and i only had about 500 to spend so i got the 1000w alpine. also the ppl at the store are trying to tell me that gains dont matter on how much rms puts out.. so dont get an amp more powerful than the subs can handle... i doubt this is true because if u have a more powerful amp set at lower gains it would just be less stressful on the amp and still not blow the subs.. maybe im wrong but idk the dude telling me this was wrong on a lot of things that i corrected him on so idk what to believe

Dyohn and haemphyst are steering you in the right direction here. Running 1 ohm isn't the answer either. The two woofers with the current amp should give you the most amount of power without the least amount of problems.

Since you already have the woofers in the box, and you already have the amp, have you at least thought about running the woofers in series for a 12 ohm load. Granted the amp will not make nearly as much power, but it would be worth a try. Option 2 (series) = 12 ohm load
