Where should i place my ports? im going to put them next to the speakers. should i place them closer to each other? on the inside? or farther? on the outside of the speakers? or does it even matter? Im using 2 L7's in a 3.0cf box.

depends on the install...but it doesn't really matter...is this for a trunk vehicle or an open cabin??

Are the L7's you have 10s??

The ideal location for ports is generally on the same baffle as the drivers and at lease one po0rt diameter away from any surface.

If you're slot porting then make sure it's on the same baffle as the speakers as well.

yea thats the plan

they are 12 l7's  they are going in a dodge magnum so it will be an open cabin. i did a little bit of modifiing and the chambers are now going to be 3.25 cf  my port is 14.5L X 13.25W X 3H

so i should place the ports at least 3 inches away from any surfaces/walls? including the speakers? this is the only thing i dont quiet understand yet.....

You can build your slot port along one side (e.g. the bottom) of the enclosure if building it with MDF walls.  Just make sure to leave several inches of free space at both open ends, inside and outside of the box.

Build the box so that it performs well in the worst case scenario and, in return, it will reward you at all times.

I just realized that yesterday I built a box for my customer with the slot port on the side of the box.  NOT on the same baffle.  Heading not what I say.  Oh bad me. ;)
