Hello everyone, this is my first post here. I'm needing some advice and hope you guys can help.
I have a Hummer H3 and plan on adding 2 JL Audio 12W3v3 4ohm speakers wired in parallel. I'm looking at a few amps. Alpine MRP-m850 (800w @ 2ohm), Alpine MRP-m1000 (1000w @ 2ohms) and JL 500/1v2 (500w @ 2ohms).
Based on JL audio's recommended power chart, 300watt RMS is recommended for these speakers. So one of my questions is >> if I were able to get either of the Alpine amps at roughly the same cost, would it be better to get the MRP-m1000 even though i won't need near that much power?
2nd question >> would the JL500/1v2 be a better choice than the Alpines?
I plan on doing a complete system but just taking it step by step right now, first step is new head unit and subs.
Thanks in advance!

We sell all those products and it would come down to the 500/1 and the MRP-1000.  The extra power on the Alpine 1000 will put less stress on the amplifier and opens up more power for larger or more subs down the road.  I know you thinking two 12W3's are all I'm getting, but a year down the road you may change your tune.  The 500/1 is a better sounding amp, and a better all around amplifier, but doesn't give you the opportunity to upgrade your subs later down the road.  I'm not saying the 500/1 can't push higher power subs, but the regulated nature of the beast doesn't give you the power flexibility of the alpine MRP series.

My choice for SQ would be the 500/1.  For an all around amplifier I'd go Alpine.
