Use the wire at the ignition switch ( PINK ) for the switched ignition or (BROWN ) for the ACCESSORY

i was told not to splice into ant of the ignition wires on the column, and would the brown wire be a constint power wire and the pink be ignition?

Yes you can tap into the ignition wiring.  Tap, not cut.  The Pink will be Ignition, Brown or Orange is Accessory.
